This school year will be a time of fresh starts for Leander ISD high school students. Superintendent Tom Glenn announced Friday that principal positions have been filled for Cedar Park, Leander, Vista Ridge and Rouse high schools.
Ray Langlois became interim principal of CPHS effective Monday, Sept. 10, replacing Ron LaFevers, who will serve as executive director of school improvement, supervising and mentoring 10 LISD principals.
Langlois, who served as dean of instruction at CPHS, came to the school as an assistant principal in July 2002. He previously served as director of secondary operations in Marble Falls ISD and was principal of Marble Falls Middle School from 1998 to 2000. Langlois was also a principal and administrator in Pine Tree ISD. He began his teaching career in 1983. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from McNeese State University in 1982, and his master's degree from the University of Houston at Clear Lake in 1992.
Paul Johnson was hired to replace Stu Taylor as principal at Vista Ridge High School, effective Monday. Johnson had been serving as Leander High School lead assistant principal. He has been an assistant principal at LHS since June 2004.
Johnson began his teaching career in Mesquite ISD in 1995, and served as assistant principal there before joining LISD. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M in 1990, and his master's degree in Education from Texas A&M Commerce in 1999. Johnson is currently a doctoral student at the University of Texas.
Taylor is leaving VRHS to become executive director of school improvement for LISD. He will supervise and mentor 10 campus principals.
Brad Mansfield is now interim principal at LHS, replacing outgoing principal Todd Washburn. Mansfield was an assistant principal at LHS, a position he filled in 2004.
Mansfield previously served as dean of students at Houston ISD's Westside High School. He taught in Wimberley, Livingston and Houston ISDs from 1997 to 2004. He earned his bachelor's degree from Southwest Texas State University in 1997, and his master's degree in Education from Prairie View A&M University in 2003.
Washburn was selected as Leander ISD's new executive director of secondary curriculum, replacing Kathryn Helm, who is retiring in December. Washburn will transition to this new position over the next several weeks.
Nancy Scott will be the inaugural principal for Rouse High School, set to open to freshmen in the fall of 2008. She will begin her duties there late this semester.
Scott was lead assistant principal at VRHS. She helped open both CPHS and VRHS as the only counselor at each campus. She has been an assistant principal since June 2004, first at CPHS and then VRHS. She began her teaching career in New Deal ISD in 1978. She has also taught in Eden ISD and LISD.
Scott earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Tech, and her master's degree in Education from Angelo State University.
