Good News United Methodist Church in Cedar Park is excited to welcome new pastor Bob Rainey and his wife Judy and son Richard to the ministry, beginning Nov. 1.

Fred Winslow and his wife, Sharon Adair, retired from pastoral work on Oct. 31 after 35 years in the ministry.

Bob is a native of Canton, Ohio, but grew up in Houston and is a graduate of Sam Houston State University with a teaching certification from the University of Houston. He holds a Master of Divinity degree from Perkins School of Theology at SMU. Most of Bob's working life has been spent in teaching and coaching at the high school level, in Houston and Montana. He accepted his call to ministry in early 2000.

Bob and family are most recently from Corsicana, where he has been pastor at St. Andrew UMC as well as Director of the United Christian Fellowship and instructor of an Old Testament class at Navarro College. Bob has been very active in children's and youth ministry; he has conducted and developed youth camps and VBS, attended youth mission trips and taught Sunday School and confirmation classes.

Judy currently teaches Language Arts, and she and Richard, who attends Corsicana High School and plays varsity football, will be joining Bob in Cedar Park in December.

Good News UMC invites the community to worship with them at the church's temporary location at Artie Henry Middle School, 100 N. Vista Ridge Parkway, Cedar Park. Opportunities for worship on Sunday include a praise service at 9:30 a.m. and a more traditional service at 10:30 a.m.
