Lakeline to extend to RM 2243

Developers in Leander and county leaders have come up with a way to extend Lakeline Boulevard from Crystal Falls Parkway all the way up to RM 2243. It would have four lanes and not one penny for construction would come from the city.
Developers will pay for two lanes of Lakeline and the county will pay for the other two, giving residents easy access to future schools that may be built and to the H-E-B plus! on 2243 in Leander.
Williamson County Commissioner Cynthia Long was on hand at the March 6 Leander council meeting to support the project.
Construction on this four-lane road could begin as early as this summer.
Long also said the county will use Capital Metro funds to improve the county's portion of CR 269. The city has plans to improve the portion within the city limits. Long said the city will take over all maintenance costs once that portion is annexed.
City resolves Atmos dispute
Leander was part of a regional settlement between the cities and Atmos Energy Corporation. Atmos requested a $52 million overall rate increase, but the cities won a settlement for a more modest increase.
“We saved 80 percent of that $52 million for our residents,” said Leander Finance Director Sharon Johnson.
The council passed the resolution of the settlement, 7-0.
Briefly...
Greg Boatright was named Leander TIRZ No. 1 Board President and Leander Development Authority Board President. ... Virginia Naumann was named TIRZ No. 1 Board of Director to replace Mel Mathis, who recently passed away. ... Pix Howell was given a contract extension as Leander's TOD Urban Design Officer.
