More than $13,500 was raised for the Williamson County Brown Santa program during its “Christmas in July” fundraising event on July 12 at the Williamson County Southwest Regional Park.
The “Fun Run” held at the event had 132 runners, including 23 kids and 60 volunteers participating in the event. Morning activities included a kids' 1K run, a family 5K run/walk, law enforcement and public safety displays and children's activities including a rock climbing wall supplied by the U.S. Army. The Blue Knights, a motorcycle club made up of law enforcement members, made barbecue, and all proceeds were donated to Brown Santa. Also present were H-E-Buddy from H-E-B grocery stores; Spike, the Round Rock Express' bulldog mascot; and of course, Santa Claus himself.
All children who took part in the Kids 1K Fun Run received a goody bag filled with coloring pages, an ice cream coupon for Chik-Fil-A, a water bottle and an award for their participation.
