HURRICANE IKE: City of Cedar Park prepares

The city of Cedar Park is on standby to open its emergency standby center in case the remnants of Hurricane Ike take effect on the city.
City spokesperson Melanie Carr said "all departments have emergency plans to go through. All city vehicles have been fueled and staffing is currently in place in case it is needed over the weekend.
The Cedar Park Fire Department has also sent two firefighters to San Antonio to help out with special needs evacuations.
The Cedar Park Park and recreation department has cancelled Friday's Movie in the Park. It has been rescheduled as follows:
2008 FALL MOVIE DATES:
September 12th ~ Movie has been cancelled due to weather
September 26th at 8pm - National Treasure 2 - Book of Secrets
October 10th at 7pm -- The Waterhorse
October 24th at 7pm - Spiderwick Chronicles with a costume contest starting at 6:30 pm.
There will also be a special ceremony at tonight's Cedar park City Council meeting to remember and honor the fallen heroes of Sept. 11, 2001. The regularly-scheduled meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. at the Cedar Park Public Library.
