Concordia gets wins in volleyball, soccer

The Concordia Texas volleyball team swept the Sul Ross Lady Lobos on Friday night in American Southwest Conference play, winning 25-22, 25-22 and 25-23.
Concordia is now 6-7 overall and 2-3 in the ASC, while Sul Ross falls to 0-10 on the year with an ASC mark of 0-6.
The Lady Tornados were led by Carrie Fisk with 10 kills and 10 digs. Setters Julie Applewhaite and Valerie Martinez recorded 16 and 15 assists, respectively.
Concordia played at Texas Lutheran on Tuesday, and will face UT-Dallas on Friday before a Saturday doubleheader with UT-Tyler and Mary Hardin-Baylor.
All of the weekend matches are set to be played in Seguin.
Mens, womens soccer defeat McMurry University
Both Concordia soccer teams claimed wins in last Thursday's double-header with McMurry University, with the Tornadoes winning 2-1 in overtime whie the Lady Tornadoes claimed a 3-0 win.
For the men's team (2-1 in ASC, 3-5), the winning goal came off the foot of Chris Arden after a nice pass from Chris Hawkins. Mitch Yates had the other goal for the Concordia men.
Goalkeeper Eric Davis paced a strong defensive match with eight saves.
In the win by the women's team (2-1 in ASC, 3-3-1), Amanda Anderson had the match-winning goal in the first half on an assist by Kiera Ruck.
Ruck also had two goals in the win, while goalkeeper Elizabeth Hall had five saves.
Both teams return to action today in a double-header at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
