Fright and fun come to Twin Lakes YMCA

It's that time again - it's Halloween. A time for festivals, frights, food and fun, and the Twin Lakes YMCA is offering it all this weekend with their fourth annual Pumpkin Fest.

The Pumpkin Fest will take place on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. for just $10 per car. The event will feature fun for the whole family, said Pauline Preston, Camp Twin Lakes business manager.

The festival will include hayrides, carnival games, ropes courses and the Tango Tower rock climbing wall. There will also be inflatables for kids, Preston said. People can buy tickets for $1 each to purchase concessions.

“The pumpkin patch will also be featured,” said Preston. “People can go out there and purchase a pumpkin.” The pumpkins range in price from 50 cents to $10 depending on size, she said.

The haunted cabin and maze, which are open every weekend until Nov. 1, will be open as well for anyone who is looking for a good scare. Both are an additional charge with the haunted cabin set at $8 per person and the maze at $5.

The cabin and maze are not recommended for children under 12 years old, but parents can sign a waiver if they are OK with it, Preston said. “They are both very scary and are meant to overstimulate and scare,” she said.

Both are open from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. every Friday and Saturday until Nov. 1. They are also open on Thursday, Oct. 23, and Thursday, Oct. 30, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Preston said the YMCA is excited about this year's Pumpkin Fest. They are expecting between 2,200 and 2,500 people. “We're geared up for it and we can't wait,” she said.
