The marching bands of Cedar Park High and Vista Ridge High earned berths into the State Marching Contest after impressive performances last weekend. Cedar Park won the Area D contest at the Round Rock ISD Stadium on Saturday and Vista Ridge nabbed the sixth and final spot. Vista Ridge did this in just its first year of being a 5A school.
Marching bands from the three Leander ISD class 5A high schools achieved unprecedented success at Saturday's UIL Area D Marching Contest, held at Round Rock ISD's stadium. Thirty-two bands from central Texas were competing for 10 positions in finals competition, and six of those earned a spot in the State Marching Contest.
All three LISD bands made the finals competition, and LISD was the only school district to have more than two bands in the finals. The Cedar Park HS Band finished in first place overall, receiving four out of five first place votes. The Vista Ridge HS Band finished in sixth place and claimed the final spot for Area D in the State Marching Contest. Leander HS finished in 10th place.
The Class 5A State Marching Contest will be held on Tuesday, November 4th, in the San Antonio Alamodome.
