The Hill Country News confirmed Friday afternoon that Vista Ridge senior quarterback Taylor McHargue verbally committed to play football next season at Iowa State University. McHargue took a trip to Ames, Iowa, last Saturday and said he received a call from ISU coach Gene Chizik on Wednesday and made his commitment Thursday night.
McHargue, a two-year starter for the Rangers, has become one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in Central Texas. Oral commitments are non-binding. National Signing Day, the first day seniors can sign their letters of intent, is Feb. 4, 2009.
Fellow Ranger Tyler Patmon, a senior defensive back, has already committed to the University of Kansas.
