The Cedar Park lacrosse team kicked off its fall tournament season with the Halloween Shootout in Richardson, Texas, racking up a 1-1-1 record in tournament play.
Cedar Park started tournament play with a 6-3 win over McKinney and followed that with a hard-fought 7-7 tie against a Hillcrest squad that reached the Division II state quarterfinals last year.
Against Hillcrest, Cedar Park held a 6-2 lead but needed a late goal by Chris Asher to salvage a tie.
In the team's final tournament game, Cedar Park lost to Plano East by a 3-0 decision.
“The tournament gave us a good look at what we need to work on,” said Cedar Park lacrosse coach Chris Knight. “We had some good moments, but we need to work on jelling as a team, working our passing game and running our offensive plays.”
This was the first action for the T'wolves as a Division I lacrosse team, with the program making it up from Division II in the off-season. Cedar Park will play in the Central District of the Texas High School Lacrosse League with Austin High, Anderson, Bowie, McNeil, St. Mary's Hall, St. Andrews, St. Stephens, Westwood and Westlake.
