NEWS ALERT: Texas Stars name Scott White as first general manager

Dallas Stars Co-General Manager Brett Hull announced today that Scott White will be the first general manager in history of the Texas Stars Hockey Club, who will play in the brand new, state of the art Cedar Park Center. Additionally, Texas Stars President and Cedar Park Center General Manager Rick McLaughlin announced today that Cedar Park Regional Medical Center has become the first founding partner of the Cedar Park Center.

“The Dallas Stars have a solid history with Scott White and congratulate him on his new role with the Texas Stars Hockey Club,” said Dallas Stars Co-General Manager Brett Hull. “We are very excited that he will be overseeing the hockey side of our primary development affiliate for the Dallas Stars.”

White will be responsible for all of the Texas Stars' day-to-day hockey operation activities including recruiting, scouting and assisting with trades and roster moves, working in conjunction with Hull and Dallas Stars Co-General Manager Les Jackson. White is currently the director of minor league hockey operations for the Dallas Stars. Hired as Iowa's director of hockey operations on May 26, 2005, White joined the Stars organization after four seasons as head coach of the Columbia Inferno of the ECHL. He served as an assistant coach with the Greensboro Monarchs (ECHL) for a season and a half, and was assistant coach at his alma mater, Michigan Tech University, from 1989-1994.

“I am truly fortunate to accept the position of the first general manager of the Texas Stars Hockey Club,” said White. “This is a great opportunity to see this team and new event center grow and become a success in the city of Cedar Park.”

The announcement was made at the Cedar Park Regional Medical Center, which has joined together with the Cedar Park Center as the first founding partner of the new venue.

“I would like to thank Cedar Park Regional Medical Center and their CEO Dr. David Klein for becoming our first Founding Partner of the Cedar Park Center,” said Rick McLaughlin. “We both share the same vision that the Event Center will be a wonderful destination for millions of fans, and that this is a tremendous opportunity for the community and our partners.”
