DWI charges against Krusee dropped

Charges of driving while intoxicated against State Representative Mike Krusee were dropped Monday by Williamson County Attorney Jana Duty. Krusee was arrested on April 30 after a trooper pulled him over for swerving on U.S. Highway 183.
In a written statement Duty said, “After reviewing all of the evidence in the case it was determined that the officer did have probable cause to arrest, due to his observations on the scene, however the evidence is insufficient to sustain a conviction by jury.” Duty said in the statement that jurors tend to rely on video evidence rather than the training and experience of an officer.
Krusee is the representative who sponsored legislation in 2003 that created the driver responsibility program to help fund the Texas Mobility Fund. It includes surcharges for driving offenses - $1,000 for a first conviction of driving while intoxicated.
