Cedar Park Regional to partner with Texas Stars

While the debut of the Texas Stars hockey team in Cedar Park is still nearly a year away, the man who will be making the big decisions for the team was announced on Wednesday, as Scott White was named the team's first general manager.

White was introduced as general manager during an afternoon press conference at the Cedar Park Regional Medical Center, with Cedar Park Center General Manager Rick McLaughlin and Dallas Stars Co-General Manager Brett Hull leading the introductions.

“It takes a lot for me to respect someone's hockey knowledge and Scott White has just won me over with that,” Hull said. “He's a consummate professional that will do a great job in making hockey successful here in Cedar Park.

White is already familiar with the Stars organization, ey operations for the Iowa Stars over the last three seasons.

The Stars went to the playoffs in two of those three seasons, and averaged just under 40 wins a season in the American Hockey League.

“I am thrilled to be here and I feel like this is a great opportunity,” White said. “I am looking forward to being a part of the fabric of Cedar Park and the Austin area.”

White will be responsible for all daily operations for the Texas Stars, which includes scouting, recruiting and working with both Dallas Stars Co-General Managers Les Jackson and Hull in finalizing the roster.

White graduated from Michigan Tech University and started as an assistant coach for his alma mater from 1989-1994. He was an assistant for the Greensboro Monarchs of the ECHL and was also the head coach of the Columbia Inferno (also in the ECHL) for four seasons.

Cedar Park Regional to partner with the Stars

The Cedar Park Regional Medical Center has joined together with the Cedar Park Center as the first founding partner of the new venue.

“I would like to thank Cedar Park Regional Medical Center and their CEO, Dr. David Klein, for becoming our first founding partner of the Cedar Park Center,” said Rick McLaughlin. “We both share the same vision that the event center will be a wonderful destination for millions of fans, and that this is a tremendous opportunity for the community and our partners.”

Klein said, “It is vitally important to Cedar Park Regional Medical Center that we be a good community partner. It truly is an honor to provide medical services to such an outstanding organization as the Texas Stars Hockey Club and Cedar Park Center. We are known for providing excellent and thoughtful care to our community and we are thrilled to be able to provide that same level of care for the Texas Stars hockey players and the Cedar Park Center. Whether you're a

professional athlete or weekend warrior, CPRMC is the community's partner in good health, from orthopedic surgery to emergency care and everything in-between. We are here whenever the need arises.”
