VR's Russell, Isham race to top finishes

Vista Ridge cross country runners Amanda Russell and Ashley Isham finished out the cross country season over the weekend, with each getting top finishes at the Foot Locker Nationals at Balboa Park in San Diego, Calif.
Russell came in 25th overall in the national field with a time of 18 minutes, 30 seconds, while Isham ran to a 37th place finish with a time of 19:00.
Both girls also ran with the Vista Ridge girls' team that finished 18th in the nation at the Nike Cross Nationals on Dec. 6 in Portland, Ore.
Russell finished 27th at Nike Cross Nationals with a time of 18:25.7 while Isham came in 59th overall with a time of 18:48.9.
The national meets closed out an amazing season for the two individual runners for the Lady Rangers.
Both runners won multiple individual titles during the regular season, including Russell coming in first at district and Isham placing second.
Those top finishes helped Vista Ridge claim the 16-5A team title.
Isham then took third at regionals, with Russell coming in fourth. At state, Russell finished fourth while Isham came in fifth.
