A Cedar Park woman who called police to report that her husband had assaulted her was arrested after police found 21 marijuana plants growing inside her home in the 1400 block of Bur Oak.

Renee Spencer, 38, was charged with felony possession of 2.47 pounds of marijuana.

According to the felony complaint, she told officers she was growing the plants for medicinal purposes.

Spencer showed up at police headquarters just before 11 p.m. on June 9 to report her husband had assaulted her. While reporting the assault, her husband called and said he was going to kill himself.

Because of the circumstances, Spencer provided officers with a key to the home so they could check on her husband. But while inside, police found two marijuana grows - one in the upstairs bathtub beneath a fluorescent light and another under a grow light in a closet next to the bathroom.

Her husband, John Spencer, was arrested six days later on a warrant for felony possession of marijuana.

What a shame that this had to happen. What an amazing Doctor. It is too bad that things like this have to happen. I am so upset to hear about this.
