LEANDER — Longtime Cedar Park Police Capt. Jeff Hayes will begin a new role as assistant chief of the Leander Police Department on Oct. 1, according to Leander Chief Greg Minton.
Hayes currently serves as captain of the CPPD Support Services Bureau which consists of communications and records, criminal investigations and evidence, community services, animal control, training and internal affairs, as well as public information requests for the police department. He has worked at CPPD for 18 years. Prior to working at CPPD, Hayes was employed as a police officer for the Austin Hospital Police at Brackenridge, according to an LPD news release.
He is a graduate of the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas – Leadership Command College at Sam Houston State University and currently holds a master police officer certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education.
