A Cedar Park police officer shot a pit bull last Wednesday night, and the dog was later euthanized.
The incident began when a resident called police to report that a pit bull was wandering around the neighborhood — near the intersection of North Lakeline Blvd. and West New Hope Drive.
According to police, when the officer arrived on the scene, the dog began walking toward the officer, and that’s when he pulled his weapon and shot the dog twice. A neighbor reported that he heard two gunshots and then the sound of a dog whining.
The dog was still alive and taken to a local veterinarian for emergency treatment but later euthanized.
Just last month, a deputy in Hays County shot and killed a pit bull inside a home, when the dog charged the officer.
Cedar Park police have said there will be full investigation into the incident.
