The veteran outfielder hit two home runs to help the Express beat the Baby Cakes 5-2. He also scored the winning run when Travis Snider hit a sacrifice fly in the eighth innings. The win snaps a three-game skid.
Drew Robinson also hit a home run, the seventh in the last eight games for the outfielder. He was named PCL Player of the Week last week, finishing with a .467 average and seeing 10 of his 14 hits going for extra bases.
Wesley Wright (3-0, 2.53) picked up the win after thanks to a scoreless seventh inning. Starter Eddie Gamboa lasted six innings, allowing two runs on two hits with five strikeouts. Preston Claiborne earned his 11th save of the season.
Robinson hit a solo shot on the fifth pitch of the game to give Round Rock an early lead. But the Baby Cakes come right back two innings later when Moises Sierra hit a two-run bomb of his own.
Stubbs tied the game with a home run in the sixth and got on base in his next at-bat thanks to a New Orleans error. Snider brought him home with a sacrifice fly and Ronald Guzman drove in Will Middlebrooks with a single to left field to double the lead.
Stubbs hit his second home run of the game and fourth of the season in the ninth inning.
The Express and Baby Cakes continue their four-game series Wednesday at 11 a.m. when Round Rock’s Tyler Wagner (1-5, 8.73) faces off against New Orleans lefty Chris O’Grady (1-3,4.40).
Round Rock is in the midst of an 11-game, 12-day road trip and return to Dell Diamond on June 17 to begin an eight-gam homestead against the Memphis Redbirds at 7:05 p.m.
