First and foremost it is important to establish that mankind’s soul is made up of one’s mind, will and emotions. In Genesis 1:24-27, God delineates the difference between man and animal. In verses 24-25, God describes his creation of the animals stating He made the animals “according to their kind”. In verses 26-27, God describes his creation of man, and clearly distinguishes that man was made after His own likeness and imagine. The likeness of God is that of an eternal being with a spirit. God said it is good and then made man. So do animals have souls? Not like humans, but they do have the ability to learn, love and work together.
The scripture tells us in Numbers Chapter 23 that God opened the mouth of the donkey to speak. So that informs us animals have the ability to speak, but they don’t. God is the one that caused the donkey to speak. In the scriptures we see a donkey talk, and we are told, the lion will lay down with the lamb. In Matthew’s gospel Jesus cast out the demons out of a man and the demons ask Jesus not send them back to hell. Jesus said okay and cast them into a herd of swine. That very moment every swine leaped over the edge and died. So, what was it that caused the swine to die? It was the demons that possessed the animas.
Notice Jesus didn’t mind them leaving the man and going into the animals. Jesus always preached to humans not to animals. He never said I came to save animals, He came to save that which is lost. So, animals do not have a soul like humans according to the scriptures, but they do have the breath of life or are living being that die. We as humans become attached to animals and other things because we have the ability too. Isaiah chapter 11 tells us in the new earth, the lion will lay down next to the lamb. So animals will be present in Heaven. An animal’s s soul is not eternal according to scripture, but our soul is. At the end of the day do you know Jesus as your Lord and Savior? Are you running after your destiny? Are you reaching your full potential in Christ? Know God is for you, with you, on your side and you will experience His best if you follow Him.
