More than 20 runners represented the LISD at the State Cross Country meet Saturday at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.
The full girls’ teams from Cedar Park, Rouse and Vandegrift participated and Vista Ridge had one individual runner. Both the Timberwolves and Raiders each had one runner in the boys’ race.
Vandegrift’s girls team had the best overall finish, coming in seventh in the team competition, while Rouse came in eighth and Cedar Park finished in 15th in 5A girls’ competition.
Allison Mopsik had the best finish of any local runner, leading the Vipers with a 13th overall finish in 18:20.59. Jordan Mathis came in 60th with a 19:07.38 time and Natalie Goddard ran the course in 19:22.64. Emi McCollum finished in 19:41.68, Margaret Wells finished in 19:45.06, Vanessa Budde finished in 19:57.01 and Loren Goddard finished in 20:00.05.
“Allison really loves that course,” Vandegrift head coach Collin Sully said. “She set her personal record on that course earlier this year and the day suited her and she never looked in distress. Her and (Vista Ridge’s Helen Roddy) have been going back and forth all year.”
Individually, Cedar Park senior Tyler Grandel finished 66th overall with a time of 16:35.57, while Rouse junior James Tisdale came in at 16:23.98, good for 49th place in the boys’ 5A race. Roddy finished 68th overall in the 6A girls’ race with a time of 19:13.16.
The Timberwolves girls’ team was led by Brea Givens in 78th place with a time of 19:50.02 closely followed by Sarah Pia in 98th at 20:05.66. Gracie Hall finished in 20:19.71, Jaida Lyles finished in 20:30.81, Candelaria Conde De Frankenberg finished in 20:39.78 and Sophia Roach finished in 20:57.63.
Megan Ombres led the Raiders with a 52nd place finish and a time of 19:26.75 and Emily Forster finished in 19:32.34 for 58th place. Sarah Warrenburg finished in 19:42.92, Hannah Aldrich finished in 20:08.70, Edna Rotich finished in 20:10.47, Ashton Hilsenteger finished in 20:18.49 and Kristen Jones finished in 21:32.10
