Funds approved for roadway improvement

At last week’s meeting, the Cedar Park City Council voted in favor of awarding a construction contract for intersection improvements along Brushy Creek Road, Lakeline Boulevard and Discovery Boulevard.

Dubbed the 2016 Roadway Intersection Improvement Project, the city plans to construct two right-turn lanes on Brushy Creek: one at Vista Ridge Boulevard and Lynwood Trail, and one on the southbound side of Lakeline at Old Mill Road. A median break on Discovery, south of Whitestone Boulevard, will also be

constructed.

“It will you to more easily get out of IHOP,” Darwin Marchell, Cedar Park director of engineering, said.

The city reviewed five proposals for the construction of these intersection. The council decide to award the contract to Aaron Concrete Contractor L.P. for $514,340.50.

According to Marchell, construction on the intersections will begin this May. Work is expected to take 150 calendar days

The 2016 Roadway Intersection Improvement Project was included as a part of the fiscal year 2016-17 budget.  The project is funded by the Cedar Park Community Development Corporation.
