The Austin Spurs defeated the Lakeland Magic 98-96 at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park Thursday night as rookie Jaron Blossomgame recorded his seventh double-double for the Spurs with 18 points (8-13 FG) and 10 rebounds in 29 minutes.
Two-way player Darrun Hilliard contributed with 17 points (6-11 FG) and 6 rebounds in 30 minutes. Olivier Hanlan pitched in with 14 points coming off the bench.
Austin (12-8) opened the game on a 15-4 run and maintained a double-digit lead throughout the first half. The Spurs were able to capitalize on the Magic’s nine first-half turnovers with 14 fast break points and went into the half leading 50-38.
The Magic began the second half on an 18-8 run, shooting 66 percent from the field and tied the game at 60 with 4:25 left in the third quarter. The fourth quarter went back and forth but two late free throws by Darrun Hilliard gave Austin a two-point lead with one second left to win the game.
For the Magic (13-6), Rodney Purvis paced Lakeland with 24 points and 3 rebounds in 38 minutes, while Price contributed with 16 points and three assists in 34 minutes.
