Jones hits walk-off single as Express beat Cubs, take 2-0 series lead

The Express are getting used to winning in walk-off fashion this postseason.

Round Rock first baseman Taylor Jones smacked a single in the bottom of the 10th inning to propel the Express to a 4-3 walk-off win over the Iowa Cubs Thursday night in Game 2 of the PCL Semifinals.

It's the second-straight walk-off win for Round Rock, which beat Iowa on a Chas McCormick single on Wednesday. The Express lead the best-of-five PCL Semifinals series 2-0 as the series continues to Iowa.

Round Rock righty Riley Ferrell earned the win after tossing two shutout innings of relief.

Iowa hit a home run on the very first pitch of the game and added another run later in the first inning. The Cubs pushed their lead to 3-0 with an RBI single in the second inning.

Round Rock second baseman and DH Stephen Wrenn hit back-to-back singles in the bottom half of the second to get the Express on board. The Express tied the game in the seventh when Ronnie Dawson rounded into a fielder's choice.

Ferguson drew a walk to begin the frame and quickly hustled to second on a wild pitch. Minch then walked Mayfield moments before Jones collected the pivotal base hit that drove in Ferguson for the 4-3 victory.

The series shifts to Iowa, where the Express can clinch a spot in the PCL League Championship Series with a win on Friday. Round Rock starter Rogelio Armenteros is expected to go up against rehabbing Chicago Cubs pitcher Kendall Graveman in Game 3.
