Leander is hosting the 12th annual citywide cleanup April 22 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the city’s public works facility located on 607 Municipal Drive. It’s important for residents to have advance notice on this so they can start preparing the items they will be able to get rid of at the facility.
The city has provided a list of items that will be collected, including residential quantities of automotive batteries, brush, furniture, lumber, mattresses, motor oil, tires without rims, old fences, paper products, cardboard, scrap metals and yard waste.
Unwanted paper and documents can also be disposed of at this event as on-site shredding is available.
Products must be brought to the cleanup in original, sealed containers to prevent leaks. They should not be mixed or consolidated.
Items such as household hazardous wastes, glass, agricultural chemicals, containers larger than five gallons, explosives, PCBs, household trash and large kitchen appliances will not be accepted.
Attendees must show a Leander water bill and a driver’s license with a matching address in order to attend the cleanup.
