Six candidates seeking election to three city council seats in Leander met for a candidate forum on Monday night held at Skye Luxury Retirement Living Apartments in Leander. The candidates answered questions from attendees ranging from how they would lower water bills for residents to how they might curtail early-morning trash pickup some residents say disturbs the peace.
Kathryn Pantalion-Parker and Laura Lantrip are vying for the Place 1 seat currently occupied by Andrea Navarrette, who is not running for re-election.
Becki Ross and Jason Shaw are seeking election in the Place 3 race. Current Council Member Shanan Shepherd is not seeking re-election.
The lone Leander City Council incumbent standing for re-election, Place 5’s Jeff Seiler, will face challenger Chris Czernek.
In Cedar Park, three incumbents are seeking re-election.
Longtime council member Stephen Thomas will face off against challenger Tim Kelly in Place 1.
Hulyne Christopher is running against incumbent Anne Duffy in Place 3, and Place 5 incumbent Heather Jefts faces a challenge from Rodney T. Robinson.
Early voting begins April 22 and continues through April 30. Election Day is May 4.
