All schools, facilities, offices and after-school programs and athletic events in Leander ISD will be canceled Tuesday, Jan. 16, district officials said.
As a winter storm rolls into Central Texas tonight bringing with it a wintry mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow, district officials anticipate hazardous weather and icy road conditions.
The snow day will effectively shut down all schools, classes, athletic events and extracurricular activities in the district, according to the release.
A number of meteorologists said Sunday the Austin area could see between one-tenth of an inch up to one fourth of an inch in freezing rain and sleet with icy roads through Tuesday evening with lows in the upper 20s. Expect significant impacts to commutes and travel.
