Leander shuts out Vista Ridge in back-to-back games

Leander shut out Vista Ridge for the second time in as many days with a 3-0 win on Thursday night. 

Ryan Gallagher pitched 6.1 scoreless innings for Leander and finished with eight strikeouts.

Anthony Beltran had an RBI in the second inning for Leander, which capitalized on a pair of Vista Ridge errors. Joel Rios and Alex Hensley each drove in a run for Leander in the seventh to extend the lead to 3-0.

Beltran and Hensley finished with two hits and one RBI each.

Vista Ridge starter Dathon McGrath had four strikeouts in 6.1 innings of work. 

The Lions topped the Rangers 4-0 at home on Wednesday night. 

Montgomery pitched 5.2 innings with 11 strikeouts and also finished with a team-high two hits and one RBI. Hensley and Alex Young also drove in runs. 

Beau Vealey pitched six innings for Vista Ridge and finished with five strikeouts. Brady Nevit and Andrew Chapa each finished with a hit for the Rangers. 

The Rangers and Lions will face off again Tuesday at 7 p.m at Vista Ridge. 

Leander then has a three-game set against Vandegrift beginning Friday at 7 p.m. at Vandegrift and continuing Saturday and Tuesday at Leander. 

Vista Ridge has a week off before a doubleheader on the road against the Vipers on March 29 beginning at 5 p.m.
