Dear Editor,

I am totally aghast at what’s currently going on in Washington D. C.  If it wasn’t so serious, it would be funny and could be a script for a Keystone Cop movie.

The Republicans have never liked the Obama Heath Care Plan and have vowed to repeal and replace it.  They have had seven years to plan and prepare the necessary legislation to make good on their vow, but as of this date they are still bickering among themselves on how to accomplish this task.  Ridiculous!!  They seem to have an inordinate talent for snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory time after time.

And then we have the Democrats who might want to consider changing their name as their policies and behavior in no way resemble the party of FDR, JFK or even LBJ.  It seems that the thinking of some has moved so far left, they are almost horizontal.  They are acting like the little boy who took his bat and ball and went home because the rest of the children wouldn’t let him bat first.

Some will say that the antics taking place in Washington are “just politics” or “this is the way Washington works.”  These two clichés have been used for years and years by politicians to justify bad behavior.  It’s time these clichés were put in the trash bin.

I think it’s past time for every citizen to write, text or call their senators and congressional representative and ask them (no, don’t ask, tell them) to put their big boy pants and big girl skirts on, start acting like adults and start doing the job they were elected to do.  That job is to govern our country in an acceptable efficient manner while keeping the overall wellbeing of the country and its citizens foremost in their thoughts, words and actions.

It would seem that the elections of November, 2016, sent a very strong and concise message to all politicians.  Let’s hope, and may I say pray, they will listen.
