LISD volleyball teams are taking over Texas Southern.
Cedar Park needed five sets to beat Barbers Hill 3-2 (25-7, 17-25, 19-25, 25-18, 16-14) and Rouse swept Manvel 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-21) Friday in Houston in the regional semifinals to set up an all-LISD game for a trip to the state tournament. First serve is set for 1 p.m. Saturday.
The two rivals each won one game during the regular season, with both teams winning at home. The Raiders won 3-1 (25-23, 25-17, 17-25, 25-13) on Sept. 23 and the Timberwolves handed Rouse its only loss of the district season with a 3-2(19-25, 25-19, 19-25, 25-17, 15-11) win on Oct. 25.
Cedar Park’s win on Friday extended its wining streak to 12 matches, with five of the last six going to five sets.
Vanessa Vozza led the team with 18 kills, 12 digs and six service aces. Lindsey Ledyard had 40 assists and eight digs while Alana Geymer finished with 10 kills and led the squad with five blocks.
The Lady Timberwolves beat Tomball Memorial and Bryan in the first two rounds of the playoffs last week before sweeping Magnolia Tuesday night at Hearne High School to make it to the semifinals.
Rouse, meanwhile, continued its deepest postseason run in school history.
Ava Bell had 13 kills and four blocks, e’lan McCall led the team with 18 digs and eight kills and four blocks. Kaliegh Skopal had 40 assists, Katy Northcut had 18 digs and Reilly Heinrich had 14 digs.
The Lady Raiders beat Willis, College Station and Tomball in the first three rounds of the playoffs.
