The gunman in Sunday’s fatal shooting in Cedar Park was still at large on Tuesday.
The shooting claimed the life of 22-year-old Austin Robert Burroughs, an active duty member of the military in the Air Force.
Cedar Park police responded to a shots fired call at the Lakeline Villas Apartments, along Lakeline Boulevard near the intersection with Old Mill Road, about 9:15 p.m. Sunday. A second call was received stating a male subject had been shot.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found Burroughs dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
Police have said that their early investigation indicated that Burroughs was shot while exiting a vehicle, after he and an unnamed woman arrived at the apartment complex. A witness told police that the woman accompanying Burroughs immediately called 911 and began chest compressions in an effort to save his life.
Meanwhile, the suspect is reported to have sped off and exited the apartment complex through the back gate, which opens onto Old Mill Road.
Police describe the suspect as a thin build, black male, average height, who was last seen wearing an orange or red colored hoodie and dark sweatpants. Witnesses say the suspect left the scene in a grey or silver colored hatchback and was armed with a semi-automatic handgun.
