Raptors clip Spurs for sixth straight win


MISSISSAUGA, Ontario — After an offensive outburst yesterday, Raptors 905 (11-10) used lockdown defense today to secure a 93-78 victory against the Austin Spurs (13-9).

Lorenzo Brown led all scorers with 23 points for Raptors 905, while Jaron Blossomgame paced the Spurs with 18 points.

Austin jumped out to an early lead, outscoring the 905 22-19 in the first quarter. Matt Costello and Darrun Hilliard led the way for the Spurs with five points apiece in the opening stanza. In the second quarter, the 905 defense would clamp down, holding the Spurs to .263 from the field while shooting .529. The 905 took a 45-40 advantage into the half.

The second half was much of the same as Raptors 905 limited the Spurs offence to .349 from the floor and 38 total points. Brown would seal the game for the 905, scoring 11 points while adding six rebounds and five assists in the half. Kennedy Meeks (13 points, 13 rebounds) and Shevon Thompson (16 points, 10 rebounds) both recorded double-doubles in the victory.
