Spurs' winning streak ends after loss to Hustle

Derrick White leads Austin with 28 points in first loss in six games


The Spurs saw their six-game winning streak come to an end Thursday night after a 120-115 loss to Memphis Hustle. 

Austin was led by Derrick White with 28 points Livio Jean-Charles with 20 points and 13 rebounds, but Memphis outscored Austin 32-18 in the third quarter and 60-44 in the second half to hang on for the win. 

Nick Johnson scored 19 points, had six rebounds and four assists while Jaron Blossomgame, Oliver Hanlan and Jeff Ledbetter all scored 10 points apiece. 

White was assigned to Austin earlier on Thursday and averaged 13.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.00 blocks in 24.9 minutes before the loss. The Spurs rookie is averaging 1.3 points and 1.3 rebounds in 6.7 minutes in seven games with San Antonio.

The Spurs (21-13) had won six games in a row in January to help them surge to the top of the Western Conference Southwest Division. The loss moves them into a tie atop the division with the Texas Legends (20-12). 

Austin travels to Dallas face the Legends Saturday at 7:30 p.m. before returning home next Thursday for a game against the Iowa Wolves beginning at 11 a.m.
