Stars lose to Roadrunners in OT in Game 1 of Pacific Division Finals

The Stars lost their first game of the second round, falling 2-1 in overtime on the road against the Tucson Roadrunners on Wednesday night. 

Brian Flynn scored his third goal of the playoffs late in the third period to send the game to overtime, but Tucson forward Michael Bunting scored for the second time in the game midway through the extra period to give the Roadrunners a 1-0 series win. 

Mike McKenna, who pushed his shutout streak to more than 166 minutes in his last three playoff games, stopped 34 of 36 shots in the loss Wednesday night. 

The Stars were 1-for-2 on the power play. 

Bunting opened the scoring for Tucson in the second period. Flynn tipped in a pass from Texas forward Travis Morin in the third period before Bunting’s low wrister from the slot beat McKenna in overtime. 

Game 2 of the best-of-seven series will continue from Tucson Friday at 7:05 p.m. Game 3 and Game 4 will be at the HEB Center Monday and Wednesday at 7 p.m. with Game 5, if necessary, beginning Friday at 7 p.m. in Cedar Park.
