Stars sign goalie Tomas Sholl to AHL contract

The Stars added goalie Tomas Sholl to the AHL roster for the upcoming 2019-20 season.

Sholl spent all of last season with the Stars’ ECHL affiliate in Idaho and finished with the fifth-most win in the league. The Steelheads advanced to the Mountain Division Final behind a league-best .928 save percentage, third-best goals against average of 2.25 and 26-12-1 record.

He finished with a 6-5-0 record, 2.29 GAA and .926 SV% in 11 playoff games, was an ECHL All-Star selection and was named to the All-Rookie Team and All-ECHL second-team.

Dallas announced that the 24-year-old goaltender would be in Cedar Park next season in a release last week.

Sholl spent time with the Macon Mayhem and Evansville Thunderbolts of the SPHL and the Adirondack Thunder and the Steelheads in the ECHL since turning pro before the 2017-18 season. He was 14-0-3 in his first 19 games with a 1.54 GAA and .947 SV% in the ECHL.

He played 19 games in four seasons at Bowling Green State University, posting a 7-10-0 record.

The Texas Stars missed out on the playoffs last season after making it to the Calder Cup Finals in 2018. They begin the regular season, the 11th at the HEB Center, in early October.
