A man wanted for a Cedar Park shooting is facing multiple charges after being arrested last Monday near Brenham.
Horacio Martinez, 33, was arrested while traveling through Washington County after a shooting in Cedar Park on April 23. Police say they responded to a 911 call around 11 p.m. Sunday, April 23, reporting that a woman had been shot in the stomach outside a home on Red Oak Street in Cedar Park.
The woman was transported by ambulance to St. David’s Hospital in Round Rock in critical condition.
Cedar Park police identified Martinez as a suspect and after learning he was planning to head to Houston, notified authorities to be on the lookout for the suspect. A short time later, Washington County officials arrested Martinez and booked him on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Charges of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and two counts of abandoning or endangering a child were added and Martinez is currently being held on $375,000 bond.
According to records obtained from Williamson County, Martinez is a convicted felon who was convicted in 2006 on eight counts of engaging in organized criminal activity and sentenced to 18 months in prison.
Police say the victim was still in critical condition early last week, having undergone multiple surgeries for the injuries she received in the shooting, which police are treating as a domestic incident.
“She is alert and speaking with our investigators,” said CPPD spokesperson Alicia Inns.
