Texas State drops road game at Wyoming

Bobcats fall to 1-4 ahead of conference matchup with ULM

LARAMIE, Wyo. – Texas State jumped out to an early lead, but Wyoming took advantage of several Bobcats turnovers and pulled away to win 45-10 in what was Texas State's final non-conference game on Saturday afternoon.

Stephan Johnson forced a fumble on Texas State's own 28-yard line and A.J. Krawczyk picked up the ball and ran all the way to the Wyoming 33-yard line. Six plays later, freshman kicker Foster Hilborn, making his collegiate debut, connected on a 21-yard field goal, giving the Bobcats a 3-0 lead early in the second quarter.

The Cowboys responded with a 75-yard, eight play drive ending in a 22-yard touchdown pass to C.J. Johnson.

Rico Gafford intercepted Texas State on the first play of the ensuing drive and despite some offensive flashes by the Bobcats in the second quarter, Wyoming pulled ahead and then put the game away in the second half.

Texas State returns home for a Sun Belt Conference matchup with ULM next Saturday, Oct. 7. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
