Water drive collects nearly 20,000 bottles for donation

TruWest Credit Union’s Austin-area branches collected more than 2,000 pounds of water in a recent donation drive. The drive, a collaborative effort of TruWest’s metro Phoenix, Ariz., and Austin metro locations, collected nearly 20,000 bottles of water for donation to the Phoenix area’s Salvation Army and the Central Texas Food Bank.

“The Central Texas Food Bank is the largest hunger-relief charity in Central Texas,” said TruWest Director of Marketing Mike Waldron. “Water will be used in meals for those in need in the Austin and Central Texas area.”

With the company’s water bottle drive in its second year, Waldron says the effort remains important to the community.

“During the summer, staying hydrated becomes a concern for everyone, especially for those without homes or who might not have access to clean drinking water,” Waldron said. “As a community-driven and local organization, we want to provide a greater channel for the community to donate and provide assistance to those in need in our community.”

TruWest is currently conducting a backpack drive from throughl Aug. 10. For more information, call 512-996-4000 or visit https://truwest.org/.
