Ruthie Lucille (Halley) Turner, 94, was born in Hensley, Arkansas on October 21,1930 to Walter C. and Ruth (Greer) Halley. She went home to be with the Lord on April 18, 2025.

The graveside service was held on April 26, 2025 at Ivie Cemetery in Kennard, Texas with Rev. John W. Greene officiating. Gipson Funeral Home, Lufkin, Texas, funeral directors.

After graduating in 1948 from Sam Houston High School in Houston, Texas, Lucille met her husband, Charles Turner, in 1949. They were married on her 23rd birthday in 1953. They began their married life in Houston where Lucille was an office manager for a real estate company. Charles persisted in trying to get her to go to church with him and in May 1955, she gave her life to God and never stopped being a witness for Him. In 1957, they moved to Lufkin to be closer to Charles’ parents and quickly became small business owners. Lucille owned the Merle Norman Cosmetics Studio for 25 years, as well as a record store, The Melody Shop, for several years. She was very involved in the community as a member of the Altrusa Club. In the early 1970’s, she, Charles, and their children began attending Harmony Hill Baptist Church. Lucille loved babies and she began the nursery program at the church. In the mid 1980’s, the family moved to Cedar Park, Texas, where Lucille worked for several years as the Operations Manager for Kenmar Residential Services. A few years after Charles passed, Lucille finally retired at age 70, but never really stopped working. She and Charles always worked in elections and were politically involved, and Lucille continued this after retirement. She was instrumental in campaigning to have HB 136 passed which allowed cities and counties to freeze taxes for senior citizens. Lucille also founded the Western Williamson County Republican Club and served as President for several years. She would take her grandsons with her to deliver Meals on Wheels. Lucille loved seeing her grandsons playing football or baseball and getting to see her granddaughter cheer. She was a big fan of Cedar Park High School football and attended games until she was 86.

Lucille was a very loving mother and grandmother. She was always taking care of everyone else and showed concern for others. Some of her best times in later years were spent with her aunt Leona, who was like a sister to her. Lucille started a Red Hat club so that she and Leona could dress up and go to lunch with friends. She adored her friends at New Hope Baptist Church where she attended.

Lucille is survived by her children Leslye & Jeff Fisher of Cedar Park and Mitchell & Natalie Turner of Llano. Grandchildren Tyler & Brianna Turner of Austin, Devin & Lindsay Fisher of Houston, Landon Turner of Georgetown, Dalton Fisher of Austin, Dillon Fisher of The Colony; Colton & Savannah Turner of Austin and Ella Turner of Georgetown.
