By noon Saturday, many shelves at the Wal-Mart on Whitestone Boulevard were either empty or nearly empty, as shoppers scoured to find supplies after President Donald Trump declared a national emergency and Texas Governor Greg Abbott declared a statewide disaster on Friday due to the spread of COVID-19, or the novel coronavirus.
