Austin Bold FC stretched its regular-season unbeaten streak to four games with a 1-0 win over Rio Grande Valley Toros on the road on Sunday night.
Andre Lima scored the only goal of the game early in the second half.
Austin moved into eighth place in the USL Championship Western Conference and leads the Copa Tejas standings over RGV, San Antonio FC and El Paso Locomotive FC with seven points from three matches.
The Bold outshot the Toros 12-7 and had a 7-2 advantage in shots on target, while RGV had a slight advantage in possession. Francis Atuahene and Ema Twumasi — both on loan from MLS side FC Dallas — appeared for the second time for Austin.
Austin piled on the pressure early as Sonny Guadarrama and Kleber forced the RGV keeper to make saves in the first half. Bold keeper Diego Restrepo made his first big save just before the halftime whistle blew.
Atuahene sent in a cross in the 50th minute that RGV keeper Nico Corti pushed away. Lima was in the right spot for the filed clearance and poked in his team-leading sixth goal of the season.
The Bold host Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at Bold Stadium at Circuit of the Americas before traveling down I-35 to meet up with Copa Tejas rival San Antonio FC on Wednesday, July 3.
