The Cedar Park High School Band won their third University Interscholastic League (UIL) state championship in a row on Tuesday, Nov. 5. The Rouse Raider High School Band finished fourth in the state, and Glenn High School, in only its fourth year, made its first trip to the state competition this year.
“A whopping 254 bands started this competition, and Leander ISD is so proud of our incredible 5A bands for representing our community so well!” Leander Independent School District said in a social media statement.
The Cedar Park Timberwolves wowed the crowd at the 2019 UIL State Marching Band Contest with their performance of “Icarus: After the Fall.”
The Rouse Raiders played a rousing rendition of “Midnight City.”
“Cedar Park High School is in a rarefied air of another kind --- most Championships for a band program across classifications,” Leander Independent School District Fine Arts Director Peter J. Warshaw said.
There are seven band programs that have won five or more state championships including Cedar Park High School, Dickinson High School, Marcus High School and Westfield High School winning five; Argyle High School and Iraan High School winning six; and Sundown High School winning seven.
