Country music artist Josh Ward will be making a stop in the local community on Friday. Ward has become one of the biggest names in Texas music after a rough start in life having to raise himself from an early age, working the hot Texas oil fields instead of going to school to support himself and riding in the rodeo circuit where he interestingly found his calling for music.
“I grew up in Montgomery, Texas, and at an early age, I was a sponge for music,” Ward recalled. “My great-grandmother had me in the church choir at 4 years old. I was always around music. I have always loved to entertain. It was something I was always passionate about . Whenever I get to go and play for some crowds is a good day.”
After more than 15 years of performing worldwide, Ward continues to build a solid music career and loyal fanbase.
“I love getting to express myself by writing songs,” Ward told Hill Country News. “I love the people, our fans, and how loyal and interested they are in country music.”
His new album "More Than I Deserve" came out May 4 and garnered over 300,000 streams in just a few weeks. The album also debuted at #15 on Billboard's Heatseekers Chart and debuted at #5 on the iTunes country albums chart. This album is dedicated to his fans.
He has also just scored another #1 hit single in Texas with the first single "All About Lovin'" off this new album. This makes his tenth consecutive #1 hit to date.
“I just never thought I would go this far,” said Ward. “I can see myself taking more and more steps in this industry by writing these songs.”
His ever-increasing social numbers speaks to the desire music fans have to hear this kind of country music. To date, Ward has seen over 2 million views on YouTube and over 3 million streams on Spotify globally. His song "Together" off his previous album was featured on a recent episode of the Netflix series "The Ranch" with Debra Winger, Ashton Kutcher and Sam Elliott.
“It was so cool to write this song and have it appear on “The Ranch”,” said Ward. “I don’t have the words for it. It’s amazing. I never thought I’d be a part of something like that.”
Ward also just got off a west coast tour where most of the shows were sold out.
