In a season filled with overtime games, Samuel Laberge came up clutch in the biggest moment.
The forward scored with 2:22 left in double overtime to give the Stars a 5-4 win on the road Sunday night in Game 3 against the Ontario Reign Sunday night in California. Texas leads the Pacific Division Semifinals series 2-1.
It was the 30th overtime game of the season for Texas.
The Reign outshot the Stars 66-44 and Mike McKenna stopped all 44 shots he faced after coming on in relief of Landon Bow in the second period.
Texas was 1-for-6 on the power play, while Ontario finished 1-for-4.
Game 4 will be Tuesday at 9 p.m. in Ontario and Game 5, if necessary, will be on April 30 in Cedar Park.
Ontario needed a little more than 10 minutes to take a 2-0 lead before Remi Elie scored his first goal of the postseason with a wrist shot right off the face-off.
The Reign scored less than 30 seconds into the second period, but the Stars responded with goals from Justin Dowling and Colin Markison evened the game with a pair of goals midway through the frame.
Ontario retook the lead with under 10 minutes left in the second period, which caused Stars head coach Derek Laxdal to pull Bow.
Travis Morin tied the game early in the third period with his second goal of the postseason less than four minutes into the third period to force overtime.
