Features such as shaded bench areas, playgrounds, dog parks and forward looking retail and residential buildings discussed

The Leander City Council held a workshop before their regular Thursday council meeting to review a proposal for the development of a mixed use town center along 183 just south of the San Gabriel Parkway.

The public-private partnership proposal, which is currently in the discussion stages and will have to be officially approved by the council, calls for a "vibrant mixed use urbanist town center" that would include residential, retail, parking, landscaping and park space. Infrastructure costs are estimated at $43 million.

Features such as shaded bench areas, playgrounds, dog parks and forward looking retail and residential buildings would be similar to futuristic town centers in Denver, Houston and Philadelphia.
