Faith Roundtable: Mark Brown on Easter

Happy Easter! The Roundtable question is: What is the significance of Easter vs. other Christian Holidays?

First and foremost, it is important to establish, Easter is not merely a Christian Holiday. Easter is a celebration. Easter is when we celebrate the life, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ; Son of the Living God. Let’s take Christmas for example, that is a time we celebrate the birth of Christ.

Jesus died on the cross for our sins; He paid the price on our behalf. He did this, so we can make Heaven our home. Christmas is when He came. Easter is why he came.

Jesus came to earth to die on the cross for every human being's sin and to reconcile us back to the Father. At Easter, we see the Easter Bunny, have egg hunts or some dress up for lunch or brunch and all of that is fun, but the purpose of Easter is about Jesus Christ and what He did on calvary and His resurrection. He is the reason we have a holiday filled with worship, appreciation, fun, relaxation and family time.

Jesus came so we could begin again, dream again and live again. He paid a debt He did not owe. We owe a debt we cannot pay. Most schools and some businesses close on Good Friday. Good Friday became a Good Friday because of Jesus. It was a Sunday He arose from the grave and is now seated at the right hand of the Father. The significance of what occurred on the cross that weekend and the fact He arose from the dead, is the most important point in history. His birth changed time from BC to AD and His death and resurrection changed our reason for living.

If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Savior and Lord or have strayed away — now is your time to reconcile with the Savior of the World, Jesus Christ. Simply say, Lord Jesus, I ask you to forgive me of my sins. I forgive myself and I forgive others that have done me wrong. Come into my heart and wash me in your blood. I surrender my heart, soul, and mind. Be Lord of my life and cleanse me of all my sins in Jesus Name, Amen.

If you prayed that prayer all of Heaven rejoices, I want to encourage you to get into a good Bible-based church where you can be taught the Word of God. We know God has great things in store for your life and He sent His only Son Jesus Christ to die for your sins so you could make Heaven your home. You are loved, highly favored, covered, anointed, respected, over coming, victorious, and walking in victory! Happy Easter!
