SWAT standoff in Leander ends peacefully

A police standoff involving the Central Texas Regional SWAT Team (CTRS) and Leander police ended peacefully early Friday morning with the arrest of the man suspected of shooting at a neighbor the night before.

Leander Police reported they attempted to serve a 3rd-degree felony arrest warrant on Brennon Lawrence, 27, for Deadly Conduct. The warrant stemmed from an incident Wednesday evening during a dispute near the intersection of Emma Rose Trail and Mason Street.

Nobody was injured in either incident.

According to Leander Police's statement,  the seriousness of the allegations against Lawrence and the fact that he was believed to still be armed and potentially dangerous lead them to request assistance from CTRS.

The department reported the SWAT team tried for several hours starting around 1 a.m. to peacefully negotiate with Lawrence into leaving the residence, which is in the 500 block of Emma Rose Trail in Leander. They state that when communication broke down, CTRS deployed gas inside the residence and Lawrence surrendered a few minutes later.

Lawrence was taken into police custody and transported to the Williamson County Jail.
