Two Cedar Park parents were arrested Friday, July 26, and charged with Injury to a Child as the Cedar Park Police Department investigates the circumstances surrounding extensive injuries to a 7-week old infant.

Lee Alan Woodard, 21, was charged with Injury to a Child Causing Serious Bodily Injury and Alexis Joan Basque, 21, was charged with Injury to a Child by Omission. Both were booked in Williamson County Jail. Basque was released July 27 after posting a bond.

On July 6, the infant was transported to Dell Children’s Hospital where doctors reported injuries including multiple hemorrhages and bleeding in the brain, seizures, strokes, retinal hemorrhage in both eyes, and multiple bruising injuries in the chest, abdomen, hip and tongue, according to the police report.

The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services contacted the Cedar Park Police Department the following day about the incident.

Police believe statements made by the infant's parents were inconsistent with the injuries observed on the child, according to the report.

Cedar Park Police are working with working with the Williamson County District Attorney’s Office and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services on the ongoing case.
