Williamson County will host a household hazardous waste collection event on Saturday, Oct. 25, in partnership with Waste Management, offering residents a safe opportunity to dispose of hazardous materials.
The event runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Williamson County Central Maintenance Facility, located at 3151 SE Inner Loop in Georgetown. It is open to all county residents.
Accepted items include automotive fluids such as antifreeze, batteries, brake fluid and transmission fluid; household cleaners and chemicals; lawn and garden products like pesticides and fertilizers; and paint and solvents, limited to five gallons per vehicle.
Items that will not be accepted include agricultural and industrial waste, asbestos, explosives, ammunition, fireworks, electronics, appliances, tires, propane cylinders, pharmaceuticals, and any commercial or business waste.
Residents are asked to follow safety guidelines:
Stay in vehicles; volunteers will unload items.
Each vehicle is permitted one trip through the line.
Walk-ups and smoking are not allowed.
If possible, bring materials in original containers.
Keep items sealed and separated to prevent leaks.
Items should be transported in the back of the vehicle, away from passengers.
Transport bins or baskets will not be returned.
“This event is part of the county’s commitment to safe environmental practices,” county officials said in a statement.
