ROUND ROCK, Texas — Students from Round Rock ISD earned top honors in the Congressional App Challenge, with teams from Grisham Middle School, Westwood High School and Round Rock High School recognized for developing technology designed to address real-world challenges.

U.S. Rep. Lloyd Doggett recently honored the students for their achievements in the annual competition, which encourages middle and high school students to explore coding, computer science and STEM innovation through app development.

The first-place entry for Texas' 37th Congressional District, CareLoop, was created by Grisham Middle School students Viraj V., Shivank A. and Vihaan G., along with Westwood High School student Pranav K.

The mobile application is designed to help caregivers manage multiple patients through a single platform. It combines scheduling, medical information, alerts and care resources while also offering an artificial intelligence chatbot for emotional support. The app also links users to financial assistance resources, including VA benefits, Medicare, Medicaid and local aid programs, with direct access to application forms.

As winners of the 2025 Congressional App Challenge, the students were invited to attend the House of Code conference at the U.S. Capitol in April.

Westwood High School students Akshara R. and Apple M. earned first runner-up honors for VoxtAI, an AI-powered civic engagement platform. The app is designed to help students learn about their rights, connect with school and government leaders, and develop leadership skills through educational modules focused on civic participation and current events.

The Congressional App Challenge is held annually by members of the U.S. House of Representatives to encourage student interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, as well as computer science and coding.

RRISD students also earned honors in another congressional district. Three Round Rock High School students won first place in Texas' 10th Congressional District with their FocusAI app.
