AUSTIN, Texas — A Crime Stoppers tip led authorities to a Texas 10 Most Wanted fugitive accused of sexually assaulting a child and stalking, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Fermin Alejandro Calles Garcia, 24, was arrested Sept. 5 during a traffic stop in northwest Travis County, DPS said.

Cedar Park Police Department officers stopped a vehicle occupied by Calles Garcia after authorities received information through Texas Crime Stoppers. Officers arrested him without incident.

Special agents with the DPS Criminal Investigations Division in Austin assisted with the investigation.

Calles Garcia, a Venezuelan national, had been wanted in Travis County since March 2025. He faces charges of sexual assault of a child and stalking, according to DPS.

Authorities also had a misdemeanor warrant accusing him of assault causing bodily injury.

DPS had placed Calles Garcia on its Texas 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants list before his arrest. His DPS wanted profile listed a reward of up to $3,000.

DPS said a Crime Stoppers reward will be paid because information submitted through the program led to the arrest. The agency did not disclose the amount.

The arrest was reported Sept. 11 by DPS and several Texas news outlets, including KVUE, KBTX, KAUZ and FOX 7 Austin.

DPS said 56 people appearing on the state's Texas 10 Most Wanted lists had been arrested in 2026 as of Sept. 11. That total included 39 sex offenders and nine gang members.

Texas Crime Stoppers had paid $79,000 in rewards for tips leading to arrests during that period, according to DPS. The program is funded by the Governor's Public Safety Office.

People can submit tips anonymously through the Texas Crime Stoppers hotline, the DPS website or other methods authorized by the agency. Tipsters receive identification numbers rather than providing their names.

Calles Garcia's DPS profile lists Austin as the capture location and identifies Cedar Park police and the DPS Criminal Investigations Division as the capturing agencies.

The criminal allegations against Calles Garcia are accusations. The provided materials do not establish a conviction on the pending charges.
